Reckless driver rams into truck, dies in Anambra

A middle-aged man had died in an auto accident at Obinaetiti Akwuzu by Nteje-Onitsha expressway, Anambra State.
The crash, which occurred on Friday night, involved a blue Mercedes 911 and a Honda Accord car.
An eye witness said the Honda driver was trailing closely behind the truck when the driver suddenly applied brake on sighting a heap of sand ahead of him.

“The Honda driver following behind on speed didn’t watch and rammed into the 911 and crashed,” he added.

Confirming the incident, Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Adeoye Irelewuyi attributed the cause of the crash to obsrutction and excessive speed.

He said, “A fatal Road traffic crash occurred at Obinaetiti Akwuzu by Nteje-Onitsha Expressway, yesterday, 21st January 2022.
At about 19:30hours

“The crash was between two vehicles, an unidentified driver of a Blue Mercedes 911 with registration number: XA129AWK and unidentified driver of a Honda Accord car with registration number: RBX155PC.

“Three male adults were involved in the crash. One male adult (the Honda driver) died while two male adults were rescued unhurt.

“The dead victim was deposited at Wisdom Mortuary, Awkuzu. The truck was taken to FRSC base Nteje and efforts are being made by the rescue team to clear the obstruction.”
