Irked by statement credited to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, that the struggle for a Republic of Biafra had become an avenue to defraud unsuspecting members of the public, the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, (MASSOB), on Monday said the self-determination struggle remained on course, expressing optimism that the project would be achieved.
This came as a faction of the Movement accused its leader, Ralph Uwazuruike of sabotaging the struggle.
The movement in an official reaction to Obasanjo’s remarks to the effect that the struggle was dead said though some “bad eggs within the struggle” had turned it to a business venture, the determined ones were still committed to the original agenda.
The statement signed by Comrade Uchenna Madu, factional National Director of Information, MASSOB, said the Biafran struggle remains a genuine movement.
Madu said contrary to Obasanjo’s claims, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of Independent People of Biafra, IPOB, and Director Biafra Radio, was totally committed towards realizing Biafra. (Vanguard)
