The police in Enugu State have arrested 36-year-old Chidi Onyishi for allegedly killing his seven-year-old son, Chimdalu Chidi for a money ritual.

They also arrested a blind pastor, Okeke Eneokwor, for leading Onyishi to kill his son.

It was learnt that Onyishi killed the boy on October 20, 2021 only for him to report two days later to the police that he was missing.

However, following investigation and receipt of credible information, police operatives attached to the Central Police Station (CPS) of Enugu State Command last Saturday, on 06/11/2021 at about 1910hrs, arrested him for allegedly being responsible for the disappearance and murder of the boy.

According to Enugu Police spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe, Onyishi, who lives on Taylor Avenue, Coal Camp, Enugu killed the boy and buried him in a shallow grave at the bank of a stream in Abakpa-Nike, Enugu.

It was further learnt that after confessing to the crime, Onyishi led police operatives to the arrest of one Pastor Okeke Eneokwor, who is said to be blind and of Dental Avenue, Trans-Ekulu, Enugu, whom he fingered as an accomplice.
He also led police operatives and medical team to a stream in Abakpa-Nike, Enugu where the decomposing corpse of the minor was exhumed from a shallow grave.

According to The Nation, the Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Lawal, has ordered the State CID Enugu to conduct a thorough and conclusive investigation that would lead to the prosecution of everyone found culpable in the act.

He also called on residents to remain vigilant, law-abiding and promptly report criminals and their activities to the nearest Police Station or by calling the Command’s emergency hotlines.
