APC, PDP should apologise to South-East – Group

A group known as Organisation for Global Youths Peace Empowerment and Development Initiative (OGYPEDI), has called on All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to immediately tender an apology to the South- East region for what it described as deliberately denying the zone the opportunity to produce the next president of the country.

The group said this in a statement by its Coordinator, Mr Japhet Omene.

His words: “For fairness, equity and justice, the South-East ought to have produced the next president but it is obvious both PDP and APC don’t have any regard for the region.
‘’This might be because the majority of the political leaders in the region who are members of the PDP and APC are selfish. One would have expected strong resistance from them over the broad daylight robbery. Even after denying the region of the presidential ticket, one expected that PDP and APC ought to be lobbying the region with the vice-presidential slot, but it is not so because both parties have no regard for the South-East.

“And both parties are expecting votes from the region. I urge them to tender an apology to the entire South-East region for the act of betrayal. If they fail to tender the apology, the people of the region should boycott PDP and APC activities.’’
